  • Very rare political column

Rare political column with astonishing revelation.  It is rare in the hope it will be buried below quickly.   The astonishing revelation is that I did not vote.

I think it was a new negative in negative campaigns.  Neither party could field a great candidate.

Going all the way back to Whitewater, Hillary was too scarred; Bill and her age were not pluses either.  Long ago someone said “she is the smartest person in the room.”  What room?  Any room.  That was never her problem.  There will be even more analyses of that–what she didn’t have–elsewhere.  I think it is a long list.  Nonetheless, her experience and general views had me supporting her in the most tacit way possible.

I swear I thought the Trump campaign was a joke.  I still don’t understand how he was nominated by the Republican party and why someone better didn’t rise to the occasion.  He would have been crushed (he’s a smart guy) but I thought maybe Romney would seize the opportunity.  I also cannot yet explain why–except ambition and ego–Trump would even seek the presidency.  Putting aside what I would call an unappealing lifestyle, business, and family, I did not see particular character or vision.  I tried to rationally educate myself on his politics and the issues but got nowhere.  Nothing he said he would do–and now he is the most powerful person in the country–struck a chord with me and I couldn’t see it actually happening anyway.

Now we’ll see.  We’ll see what is behind this exceptional groundswell.

I have never seen polling off this much.  The exit polls will be fascinating.

    Here’s what I think.

First, I need to look up that Michigan sports blog that put everything in terms of communist rhetoric.  It was funny as hell.

More than anything, a lot of people are angry and they (cite astonishing revelation from above) elected a dangerous dictator.  I could review facts, like protests and shootings, but the workers are angry.  I guess there are still plenty of them, because the numbers for Trump are amazing, but the demographics are different.  Remember the year 2040, approximately, as that is when whites will no longer be the majority.  Retirees and aging baby-boomers, that’s what I was after; the voting proletariat.

They are angrier and more powerful than I knew.

I can kinda a little bit see how a white supremacist would vote for Trump.  And, unhappy with something, I can see middle-class whites…  I don’t understand why black or Hispanic people would vote for Trump.  My best guess is Hillary Clinton was worse.

P.S.  I learned this mostly from watching the recent OJ Simpson ESPN documentary.  They were interviewing jurors after the acquittal.  “How would you like to spend 240 days in a hotel room?”  But what about the facts?  “I don’t care.”  It was absolutely in your face:  it is my vote and this is what I choose to do with it.

P.P.S.  Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin.  There it is.  White, college-educated and blue collar.

Usually markets like Republicans.  Is it true there is going to be an annex to the White House, with a casino?  This morning Dow futures were down 750 points and, last I checked, calm reigned and the market was up.

It is an old joke:  aside from the murder, was there any violence?  Things have been relatively calm here–I guess, if you pick the right spot–under Obama.  Trump has the House and Senate too.  People are going to start using the word “mandate.”

I’m like the markets.  A wake-up call and a little bit of change never hurt anyone.  I just didn’t know.  When is the next election?

    The Oklahoma Shooter

It is known as the Oklahoma manhunt.  He was caught/killed Sunday Oct. 30.  “Vance had been on the run since Oct. 23 when he allegedly shot two Wellston police officers who are recovering from their injuries, said Wellston Police Chief Tim Estes.”  severe head

    Iowa

Madison Greene’s grandmother, whose daughter was in a relationship with the accused shooter for 16 years, told the Register on Thursday that she worried about Greene’s erratic behavior for years and warned her daughter to stay away from him after they split.

    ?

I don’t know why some Trump supporters appear angry.  Angry at what?  More precisely, angry at whom?

I also don’t believe anyone who says everything is is bad and I’m gonna change it.

How, who, what?  I just don’t get it.

Then there is this.  And this is the topper–there is even a name for it, suicide by cop.  I was going to say it is a lot like a suicide bomber.  WTF is wrong with your life?

The page says that Ethan and Owen had two older siblings as well and two older step-brothers.

Once again, it is almost incestuous.  I don’t understand some of these extended families.  But that is not the point.

I have to stop reading the news, or disconnect from the internet.

Sabrina Erdely.  Jackie made it up.  OMG.  I thought Jackie was the woman who made up the Duke lacrosse rape case.

“It takes trauma victims some time to come forward with all the details,” Erdely said, explaining why she remained unskeptical after she learned that Jackie had told two versions of the story to her first-year roommate. “It’s not unusual.”

The Derrick Rose civil case ended with a not guilty verdict.  They had something like an 18-month boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.  If it was a scam, that’s how long it took to develop.

The Duke rape case deserves yet another review.  I’ve done it before.  The last I remember another reporter was living there and researching in depth the life of the supposed victim.  Bathtub murder or suicide?  The Duke players represented the elite and opposition…

    EDIT

Crystal Mangum is in jail for murder.

  • Nostalgia

I have a feeling this is going to be here, at the top, for a while because it is not nearly finished.  I’m often not completely satisfied with a lot of things posted here but, after a few days, I am content enough to let things be and move on.  This one is going to take longer.

If you could see my inbox from, say the moon, you would see why.  I may have read half or two-thirds of them.  It was the only thing I could do at the time.  I have to read them.

Now, after over half a year, it is not a real conversation.  And time provides a different perspective.

It is a huge challenge.  Dialogue is the most fun to write; I have always been fascinated by email and texts as dialogue.  I am not naming names.  It is only about the positives and the learnings.  If I wrote it I can do what I want with it.  Same for if it is on web.  If she said it or wrote it that is a little harder to decide…  Made-up is of course fine too.

OMG, I didn’t remember.  I went back to an old computer.  There’s a “hide Ms. X” folder.

    *          *          *

Yesterday night and a little bit this morning I was feeling nostalgic.

    http://greenhillsranch.com/

“Acquiring” phase (not my word).  It is an accomplishment.  It still looks awfully lonely.

I continued my snooping from a year and half ago for just a short while.  Very little has changed.  But I had never heard of Kalama, Washington or Wendy Wilson, nor had I read the details about Ruth McEndoo.  (To get the details the detective had to talk to Mr. X and Ms. X, but he had to do it separately.  And it is unusual that a small local paper would make a request to obtain the documents.  I can see, a bit, where the hiding comes from.)  I was hoping to find good news–that all the problems from before had been resolved and that everything was going really well.  I was told publicity and creating traffic would be a new strategy.  I thought I might even find a new address or person.  That is what I wished-for.

Every week something new hits me.  It is a very rare person who can do that.

I hope she calls in two years when she is her own woman.

  • POF

Hi and thank you for writing. I appreciate women who go for it and try to respond if there is a way.

I was just thinking today–because I AM in the mood and want to try speed dating!–that there are some personality tests here. I like another site, another dating site which has a great matching system. I’ll tell you, I recently “completed” a fairly long distance encounter there with someone just like me and I’ll never forget it. So I can attest that it is possible to do some real target marketing.

Perhaps what you are saying in part is I am smart, articulate, and have a general understanding of how the world works, including law and politics. I’m not bragging whatsoever but–I do respond to women’s profiles and sincere efforts. Occasionally I will write something that will get some real attention. Two of the three Jefferson County commissioners I would call close contacts and the third knows me too; one is a Democrat and one is a Republican.

Someday I will post it in my profile–people who know me know it–that usually when I say something there is something more behind it. I’m unusually sensitive and introspective (for a man). When I write something I have usually done my research and chosen my words carefully–there is always something more behind it.

So, with all due and appropriate respect, I disagree. Politics is something that is unimportant. There are plenty of legal, available, energetic, online, and other ways to do what one wants to and I respect all of it.

Oh, there is a question on OKC about it and my response is… Tolerant in terms of quantitative voting; written response of “More and more I’m thinking I don’t understand political ideology. It varies with the issues.”

To answer your question, I used to call myself a Gerald Ford (left-wing) Republican. (I knew Ford and his cronies from Michigan and specifically my fraternity there.) Now I would say I am more tolerant of the Democratic party too.

Finally, I do this too… remark on women’s profiles. Always, they’re appreciative because they have no idea how they may be viewed by the opposite sex. Yours is one of the worst I have seen. It is all “I want.” And you come off as extremely intolerant, something that… Most people go the other way as they get older. I lived in LA too (Santa Monica and Westwood) and love it too. I especially liked/learned that… liberal/trends go East for sure, but pretty darn conservative parts too. I think it is cool that everyone seems to recognize and accept that.
