One of the things you cannot do in this life is impose conditions on love. Another impossibility is to expect another’s heart to accommodate your own desires and needs. You may think that cleverness, power or money will work on your behalf, but eventually you will end up feeling the way you really feel, and so will the other person, and there is no argument more useless than the one that begins with the words “But I thought we had an agreement.”

It is very hard to watch a second time.  Steve Martin is a talented guy.

That is what happened to me, or at least that was something going on at the same time, a long time ago.  One of us was unfaithful.  There was an arrangement proposed, and that agreement became convoluted, abused, and eventually turned completely around.  And that is exactly how it ended.

Part of the learning here is that to play in ecommerce you have to be prepared to box and ship.  That is the currency:  boxes.  No problem there–try spending years figuring-out how to ship an 8-foot tree protection device.  Still, there are better ways, or at least ways to make it so easy you cannot refuse.

Maybe it is a symptom of cutting the cable.  Recently I have been buying a lot of computers.  There is more content out there than I was getting with cable anyway and the bonus is I don’t have to deal with Comcast or coax cables.  Anyway, there are excellent computers out there like this and there is only a month left to upgrade to Windows 10.

It is fun and I stay just a bit in touch with best practices.

Blinq.  eBay.  Amex.  Google Trusted Stores.  Blinq.  Compaq.  eBay.  Walmart.  Comcast.

I have always liked this little Lenovo (IBM made by Lenovo).  It sounds better.

One of the frequent storms hit and blew the cable box, which destroyed the new TV, setting off an inability to replace the box, and the cutting the cable revelation.  The computer didn’t show up, another one is perfection (but bigger), and two others failed.  Then the TV came back, meaning move the other to another room, and it didn’t have the connections or a model number and Walmart said here’s your refund (after four months).

It started with all the boxes.  I think ecommerce has reached the stage where people just hit the send button.  When in doubt, send.  What is a person’s responsibility when it comes to sending back unwanted stuff?

When the cable box blew Comcast sent me a massive relic replacement without HDMI.  “It is working, ” the person in India said and it was not.  “It has HDMI,” she said.  No, it has a plate in front of the HDMI port.  We’ll send another one, and it is the exact same thing.

There is no need to do this with cable when there are other ways to connect.

This is where the story keeps on giving.  The Goldmans are right.  They sued Simpson’s ass and that helped.  But where were the Browns?

One sister kept in touch with Simpson for the purpose of keeping the two kids–they, Simpson/first wife “killed” the third–in touch with the Browns.  After the murder trial Simpson regained custody.

The other sister runs a charity for domestic abuse.

Simpson is a bad enough guy to make me look poorly on the whole jock community because they’re the ones most enamored with him.  I already feel that way about thugs.

One of Simpson’s sisters collapsed at his guilty verdict in the armed robbery trial and died sometime later after never recovering.  Simpson was in Las Vegas for her wedding.

Simpson has another sister, and has or had a mother who seemingly kept the family together when his parents separated at age five.  He also has a living ex-wife and kids from that marriage.

No one ever saw a violent or criminal side to him?  Why don’t they come forward?  They have to be lying.

So Simpson is in Las Vegas.  There are three memorabilia dealers arguing about everything and they have a box of Simpson’s ex-“sh*t,” as Simpson himself describes it.  The four apparently agree a former Simpson agent had or took the items at some point.  There are pictures and maybe trophies or balls; someone said $75K value.  (A blurb on TMZ talked about the suit Simpson wore at acquittal as worth $100,000.)  Oh, one of the three dealers said in court he made $210,000 from the robbery audio tape and such…

Someone in Las Vegas government said something along the lines of “If they’re your items you need to sue in civil court to get them back.  We can’t have armed people barging into hotel rooms taking things.”

The judge was harsh and the D.A. was zealous.  Let’s get these small-time hoods or hangers-on to plead and testify against Simpson because…  He was the leader and he organized it.  They were his things.  SIC.

The armed gang was caught on video tape.  Simpson himself was audio-taped.  And he lied and he was caught.  I didn’t know they had guns, he said.  I was just trying to get my things back.

Simpson, are you an educated, compassionate man or a lying, wife-beating/murdering thug?  And actor.  In court, “I was trying to get my things back, I’m sorry” is a lie.

Part 1 of Made in America ends on an ominous milestone: the first meeting between Simpson and future wife Nicole Brown at The Daisy, a hot L.A. disco. That night, a friend remembers, O.J. said of Nicole, “I’m gonna marry that girl.” Which was odd, because O.J. was still married at the time. And also, because Nicole was only 18. Nicole’s friend David LeBon remembers her coming home with ripped jeans and looking shaken up; when he asked what happened, she said O.J. had been “a little forceful” with her. Still, they continued their whirlwind romance. “They had a real love affair, these two,” Nicole’s sister Tanya Brown says. “And that’s what makes this thing so sad.”

And the first episode ended with perfect suspense…  Nicole Brown.

He hit her, hard, more than once.

I am thinking.  Violence against a woman.  I could see it happen.  Suppose you are outside and you are having an argument.  It is a sticky issue and you get really mad.  You kick a fence post.  It knocks over a flower pot that hits a brick which falls on his foot.  Ooops.  Her foot.

There are many more details.  He had affairs.  She drove a white Ferrari.  “This is mine,” he said.  There was love too.

I think it is OK to want to read her diary.

The Bronco chase was really supposed to be an escape to Mexico?  Or suicide?  CTE/BMX star at 41.

Was he grotesquely controlling, spying on her, taking keys, and eventually killing her?

“I’m not black, I’m O.J.” is my favorite quote too.

Who was Robert Kardasian?  The FX series.  It is nonstop.

Edit.  From Louis Brown’s obituary:  “Brown served in World War II as a pilot and married in Switzerland after the war.”  He died in 2014 at 90.  Nicole Brown was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1959.

 

“I am filled with furious anger.”  It is not the best sentence.

One of the reasons I follow (college) sports and Michigan sports is it allows me to see more.

There was the kicked-out defensive end who was removed from the team after the fracas in a motel in Ohio.  It was an unusual place for a weekend away, the waterpark motel.  The player’s long-time girlfriend had bruises and, among other things, a nightstand and lamp were knocked-over.  This player supposedly came from a tough background and this was not the first incident.

Recently there was the Mississippi State recruit arrested–he was not the only one in the crowd accused–for repeatedly kicking and hitting a woman already on the ground.  The recruit is a huge, fit athlete and he was recently, still, admitted as a scholarship student with a slap on the wrist (a suspension for one game, his first as a freshman).  The beating took place in front of dozens of people at the housing complex where they all lived.

If you watch it every day it happens every day.  Every hear of Tami Huntsman, or her brother?

It is harder to follow, and I don’t understand all the news, but there’s a big world too:  Chinese/North Korean dissident prisons; genocidal refugee camps, and nail-bomb terrorist bombings.  Still, no one can control gang rapes in India.

How would you like to live in a tent, or in a shack made from corrugated cardboard, in the mud or dust or dirt, and have rape, murder, or theft happen on a regular basis?

“You took away my worth, my privacy, my energy, my time, my intimacy, my confidence, my own voice, until today.”

Congratulations, good for you for speaking out, albeit anonymously, and trying to work through the incident.  Sans the details, of course it is wrong.  But most people probably are not as smart and articulate.  Most people can’t start a recall or get the vice president’s attention.

Rape is a serious crime and he is going to jail and the justice system is not perfect.  Humans and especially large, public institutions are not perfect.  The problem is gaining friction and attention–just Google “Baylor rape scandal.”  The campus problems, and the influence and influences of young adults, are getting lots and lots of attention these days.

Stanford, get over yourself.  I am not filled with furious anger.

 

But it is the mystery of life that sustains me now.

Way too long (away from this blog) and I have to remember the key learning.  You gotta want to.

It has been reverse customer satisfaction lately–throwing things away because of commerce so wildly offensive I would rather do nothing.  I’ll find a faceless internet solution and at least that way I won’t expect anything.  Rather, I will know exactly what to expect.

There are a lot of angry people out there and I’m not one of them==I will simply do the right thing and what needs to be done.  It is easy if you are prepared.

RE Andrew Mudge…  Huge insurance companies are the worst.  Wait, there is no reason to go that far, like that bulldog attorney on TV who uses that as his slogan.  Maybe they are just changing.  Safeco Direct–now I finally know the name and how to contact them–is pretty good.  Their website is friendly enough.  I would rather deal with the website and 800 number than Andrew Mudge.

Still, there is suspense.  Phone/caller ID and email are covered.  One pile of junk mail remains.  “I tried to contact you multiple times” he said, and I think it is a lie.

If you’re going to do this, or that, you gotta want to.

Two things:

1. The documentary by a main producer/author on the subject is disturbing, at least in the beginning.  The statements by the police are upsetting.  He didn’t behave the way I expected.  But probably much was cut out and they’re not TV actors.  Just one example, specific wording such as “I lost her” do not incriminate in my mind; but “This will be my first Christmas without her,” before the fact, does.  And they spent something like $4.2 million (and are/were seeking state reimbursement).  And the crime right across the street!  The police chief was involved and they responded.
2. This woman Marlene Newell is an amazingly-detailed blogger and researcher. “SII” stands for Scott is Innocent.

It is this page in particular that I stumbled upon.  The writer lost me with her personal definition of libel and her failure to take this book in along with all the other fluff on the subject.  And I don’t feel right about inflicting generations on a new-born, plus, mother-child separations are nothing new.

Now I’m no better than the rest because I don’t know, but what fascinated me is how I could picture him growing up.  There are many, many quotes like this:

He appeared to grow up with a two-faced ability to please his parents and others.  INSERT joke about fertilizer salesman here.  He had an ability to be very charming and win people over.  His relationships with his mother and father do not appear to be great.

Also, I am intrigued by the two words, sociopath and psychopath.  Sociopath (i.e., death row) is pretty clear.

You know, fertilizer, or steroids, kind of unnatural cultivation…  The other thing that has been said before and eloquently is the need to have confidence and be good at something.  Seducing women and spouses with lies–and murder, let’s not belittle murder–is not something you want to be good at your whole life.

A compound fracture on an ungulate, is there any other kind?

This encounter was really by chance.  I followed his pick-up as it approached my neighborhood.

No, that doesn’t prove anything.  Yes, there are usually two or more sides.

And secrecy is still bad.
