Amazon, Chuwi, and Fraud in General

Chuwi

Chuwi. Don’t buy.

First the 30,000 feet rationale, then the story. While consumer, commerce, and trade laws are certainly designed to aid buyers and end users, the other side, protecting legitimate sellers, is just as important.

I bought this tablet, which is no longer listed, on eBay. There was a 20% off promotion and I paid $53 with free shipping for it.

A couple of days later the promotion was still available and I bought this mini pc too and just after New Years they both presumably arrived, one in my mailbox and the other in the snow underneath it. They were both sent via the USPS.

Start with the mini pc, the one I wanted most. These are both reenactments in order to make the videos.

Part 2, the tablet.

Here is the rest of the Chuwi scam, and yes it goes all the way up to the parent because this is an “authorized dealer.” Specifically it is “Chuwi2019” seller on eBay. Chuwi2019 may or may not be David Lin in Brooklyn, NY. I noticed he changed his location from Brooklyn, NY to Walnut, CA on eBay; elsewhere in his profile it says, simply, China. He seems like kind of a conduit who sells anything Chuwi he can get his hands on. Chuwi2019 works through or with USWC2 Warehouse at 381 Brea Canyon Rd, Walnut CA 91789-3060 which is a legitimate but suspicious business. They are a fulfillment center. No, they don’t have a spa or backroom private massage rooms, to my knowledge. But, per what I have documented here, they are into some illegal things.

Before I get sued for libel I’ll explain very briefly. It is illegal in Colorado to misrepresent a product. Ever wonder why eBay requests and posts the origin of the product and seller? You can’t say you are in New York when you are in China. This is sort of a “U.S. warehouse” scam too. Put another way, the fulfillment vendor is not credible. In my case–twice–it is a bizarre, costly, and incredibly stupid instance of “brushing.” It is everything but, and including abominable, dishonest customer service, delivering a new product as described.

To Mr. Lin and USWC2 Warehouse I employ the “but for” standard. You are both guilty because it could not have happened but for each of you.

I guarantee that if I receive a hair ribbon in the mail eBay is going to get a very, very nasty email!
