It continues.
I am not going to buy these mini computers from unproven names anymore. I have purchased a number of them; thanks to Amazon and clear malfunctions, I have returned them easily. First, many have illegitimate versions of Windows, ports that don’t work, or are damaged (e.g., scratched) or not new. Next, this is mainly for refurbished pc’s, they are are not as described in an important way, such as wrong ports or even different processor. Again, they’re small and returnable.
Now I have discovered something bad about these/this mini pc which appears common, even for the two I have kept in the last couple of years (a Melefon, works fine but gets hot, particularly under strain, and Benss which works fine but is loud and also gets hot too and USB ports are fickle). You can see the trend. I thought this N100 with 16gb would be better but it was worse then it failed (the latter due, I think, to the AC adapter). If you are like me, you like to use the USB and video ports for external hard drives, speakers, and all at times 3 video ports. These mini pc’s and the adapter get very hot, slow down, and sometimes lock-up under this strain. I checked the same connections with various models–my external hard drives get so hot, even if unused, I feared for the data. I have 2 older Lenovo Tinys which remained cool and capable. I bought a newer ThinkCentre m720q that much faster, 4x WIFI speed, runs cool using many USBs, and is Win11 capable. One of the reasons I often tried these mini pc’s is because of a full-function USB-C; the Lenovo doesn’t have that but it does have more and faster USB-A ports.
If you just use the mini pc for one quick monitor hook-up, as a portable, or other simple uses it may work fine. But you may have nothing if it fails. Melefon and Benss, the two brands mentioned above, are nonexistent on the web now.
Be wary of this seller. I encountered him before and posted two scam-avoidance videos on YouTube RE Chuwi. He/they are not the manufacturer and offer no help. I wrote him in depth on Amazon without any, before remembering. He even told/asked me to return the nonworking unit back to him in NY at my expense instead of directly to Amazon.
